What was YOUR New Years resolution on January 1, 2010?
How long did it last? One month? Six months? A whole year?
My New Year’s Resolution on January 1, 2010 was “get better about money”.
It was created because Christmas of 2009 was financed, on credit, and it occurred to me that
Christmas isn’t supposed to be put on credit. It defeated the entire purpose and meaning of Christmas.
It took 3 years, 8 months and 27 days but we are now RESOLVED.
At 8am TODAY, I will call Sallie Mae and make my LAST payment on my student loan. Yes, the student loan that I have had for a very very very long time.
As of 8am TODAY – we will be DEBT FREE
No more vehicle loans, NO more credit cards, NO more student loan.
The ONLY debt we will have left is our mortgage. That’s it. Just ONE debt!
We have a savings account, an emergency fund, plans to pay CASH for upcoming expenses.
We NO LONGER use or rely on credit cards or taking out a loan to pay for things.
Today is a VERY special day – TODAY I am 40 years old.
I am 40 and DEBT FREE. That was always the plan when we first started. The math said there was no way we could pay off $43, 544 in debt in LESS THAN 4 years.
But, WE DID IT!!! It took perseverance, it took sacrifice and it was a lot of hard work. But it was ALL worth it!
TODAY, I will spend a few minutes of my 40th birthday talking to Dave Ramsey and telling him our story.
Today, my husband, my boys ( ages 8 and 7 ) and I will do OUR DEBT FREE SCREAM!!!!
You can listen LIVE by going to www.daveramsey.com, clicking on “The Show” and then clicking “watch”. There is a LIVE video stream of the show. We will be LIVE ON AIR sometime between 4p-5p EST. TODAY, September 27, 2013. We will NOT be in the studio, but calling in from our home in North Carolina. However, there will be pictures of us on the screen behind Dave Ramsey’s desk as we do our call.
I can’t even begin to tell you how GOOD it feels to no longer be worried, stressed, anxious about our finances but I CAN tell you that it feels
