They say a picture is worth a thousand words so I’ve included some of my favorite pictures in this post! Mostly because I like to keep my posts within the “500 words or less” rules for blogging but really because I just love sharing pictures!
Just in case you a brand new to the blog (thanks for being here!) – a brief back story:
I have been a fan of Elton John for over 20 years. Since my very first concert in 1992, my dream has been to meet him. I recently attended my 25th and 26th Elton John concerts and although I still didn’t achieve the dream, I certainly had a wonderful time! My #1 reason for becoming Debt Free was to have money to go see Elton John in concert!
Part 1: Concert #25 – Charleston, WV
Since I was traveling alone and trying to make good time, I don’t have any photos of my trip but I want to mention here that the scenery (think rolling hills, mountains, farmland ) is absolutely amazing AND I drove through TWO tunnels on the way to Charleston!
These are my fav photos from the trip!
This is an older venue so there’s no electronic sign, just a sign that directs you to the website.
Davey Johnstone – Musical Director and guitarist for the Elton John Band. He’s been with Elton since the late 60’s! The next photo is of one of the buses that belong to the tour.
My Elton friends! We ate at this great place called Pies and Pints. The pizza was delicious and the conversation was mostly about Elton concert stories! L-R: Doug, Me, Karen and Tommy
Pre-concert group photo. I had an extra 2nd row seat and Tommy found out that the front desk manager at the hotel wanted it! It was her first show! SUPER fun watching her experience THE concert! L-R: Vickie, Me, Karen, Amy, Doug and “Superfan” Tommy. He wears his red hat to every show, I bring my license plate! Its how people are starting to recognize that we exist!!!
The view from Row #2. SO thankful to my friend Tommy who was able to get such a great seat for me!
Elton wore this blue suit with “Madman Across the Water” written on the back!
I bought a souvenir!
Below are two other souvenirs. The first is a drumstick from John Mahon – I had motioned to him to give me an autograph at the side of the stage after the show and he mouthed back “I can’t” and then threw me the drumstick instead! The guitar pick is from Davey Johnstone – he walks/plays right up to the edge of the stage and then places it right in the palm of the hand of the person reaching for it – in this case, it was me!
My new Elton-friend, Tara. She and her husband sat next to us on the 2nd row. It was only her 2nd show and she wanted an autograph – I told her to stick with one of us and we’ll make sure she gets it! She did, and so did I!
My FAVORITE part of the show is when Elton comes out to the edge of the stage to give autographs. He is SO close I can touch his shoes – but I never do!
The 2nd photo is Tara and I right up against the stage –
thanks to her and her husband for emailing me all their pictures!
