We are almost halfway through the month of December! That means that your shopping and other Holiday tasks should be almost DONE!
How would it feel to have everything DONE by the 15th? Would you have less stress, less worry, less anxiety? Would you be able to enjoy the days leading up to Christmas instead of frantically rushing and running around?
I can tell you, YES. Yes, you would. So, you are thinking, “that’s great in theory but I haven’t started anything yet!” Start today.
Make your list, start checking things off. Use your time today and tomorrow to get a HUGE head start on all the things on your “to-do” list.
This has been an exciting week for me!
First, a REMINDER that today is the last day to sign up for month #2 of the Monthly Subscription Service for financial coaching. This is the month we review 2016 and make plans for 2017 so it’s a great month to join! Details are HERE
The week started off with a LIVE interview with The Budgetnista. I met her at a financial conference and stayed connected. The opportunity to apply to be on her “Ask the Expert” series came up and I was accepted! Although the interview was only for members of her Live Richer Academy, I encourage you to check out her website and programs – maybe they are a fit for you or someone you know!
My interview with Amanda Abella of Make Money Your Honey Podcast also released this week! I met Amanda at the same financial conference and I’ve read her book! Amand has some great tips on how to change your mindset about money – that is a key component of improving your financial situation.
You can listen to the podcast interview HERE
I’m so thankful for opportunities to share my story and inspire others!
Our latest food kit from Hello Fresh arrived this week! We received:
Orecchiette Pasta with Broccoli and Pesto
Mini Pork Meatloaves with Sauteed Red Cabbage and Sweet Potato
Toasted Rice Bowl with Shrimp, Sweet Corn, and Red Bell Pepper
We’ve prepared the Pasta meal and the Toasted Rice meal and both were DELICIOUS – even the boys loved it! Those of you who know me well, know that I did not add the broccoli to the pasta – it became a side dish! And, I don’t like red peppers either so I made stuffed red pepper instead of dicing it. I figured out that we can add two weeks per month of Hello Fresh into our grocery budget. We’ve really enjoyed the variety it has added to our menu rotation and I love that everything I need to prepare the meal is included in the kit!

Although I can’t tell you what it is – it’s a SURPRISE! – I bought the last of the Christmas gifts for our older son this week. I can tell you it involves a bit of a road trip but we’ll stay at the hotel for FREE thanks to Hotels.com! Once you complete ten bookings through hotels.com, you earn ONE FREE night! I’ve already completed this cycle once and had no issues redeeming my free night. I’m excited to do it again!
PLUS, I use hotels.com through Ebates so I’m earning cash back, too!
My current cash back total through Ebates is $25.05! If you shop (or book trips) online, you should be a member of Ebates – it’s FREE to join! Click HERE to sign up!
I made a quick trip to my favorite Goodwill store this week and got THREE new-to-me shirts for less than $12.00. All three are name brand, long sleeve, button down shirts – my favorite “business attire” style of shirt! Have you tried shopping for new-to-you clothes? It’s a GREAT way to save money!
Speaking of saving money…
I’ve been using the online shopping feature at our local grocery store quite frequently. It’s so easy and convenient. I always start with the online sales flyer when I shop. By shopping what’s on sale, I save money! Check out the receipt!
I also boosted my Change Challenge savings by adding $5 to my change jar! Are you a member of The Brave Budget Community?
We’ve been participating in the Change Challenge since July and, on average, we are saving $25 a month in loose change!
The next Change Challenge starts on December 15th so grab a jar and start saving! I’ll post my jar savings next week!
As if starting the week with interviews wasn’t exciting enough, I ended the week with an exciting email sent to my inbox! I received the first round of edits from my editor! That’s right, I wrote a book! The current plan is a release date of July, 2017. It’s my story of pursuing a dream and the life lessons I have learned from that. Once I get the book a little more put together based on the input from my editor, I’ll make a larger announcement on social media – should be early 2017! I’ll be looking for people to read the book and help me promote it so stay tuned for details on that.
I also started our 2017 Budget Book this week. It’s important to take a look at the year ahead, make plans and then make sure our budget reflects those plans. Being proactive with our money instead of reactive reduces financial stress!
Don’t forget to check back on Monday for the Money Monday blog and then join me for Facebook LIVE in The Brave Budget Community group for tips and Q&A!

I’m speaking at Toastmasters on Tuesday Morning – sharing an excerpt from the book called “Life Lessons from Pursuing a Dream”
This will be my third speech from the handbook and my FIRST speech without notes!
I’m also doing a ten-minute presentation for my networking group, K&M Speed Networking, on Thursday. I haven’t decided on my topic yet but I know I will be sharing a story – that was requested by a group member!
I’m also meeting with the founder of a local non-profit to start the process of creating a financial literacy program for her clients. I’ll update you on that meeting next week!
I hope you have a great week!
