Coffee. Today’s post brought to you by my second cup of coffee, in one of my favorite mugs!
I had these mugs made as part of a promo I was doing – my logo is on the other side.
I drink coffee from this mug almost everyday because I just LOVE the quote.
In case you are wondering, yes, you can get one of these mugs! They are FREE with the purchase of a one hour private coaching session or you can buy one for $20 or $25 if you need it shipped.
I’ll include ordering links at the end of the post –
For now, let’s move on with today’s post – an update of some BIG events that have happened over the last seven months. I’ll have more to write about each of these throughout the month –
May: My husband and I spent out 17th wedding anniversary with a “day date” to look at travel trailers and RV’s. It was a really fun day as we looked at ALL the options. We have the intent to one day purchase one and we were trying to decide what we wanted and what model/size was going to work best with our family. For now, we decided that a travel trailer was the best option but our purchasing date is still a few years away so that could change. The most important thing is that we figured out a budget for purchase so we can start putting a savings plan in place.
June: My friend and I went to see RENT at our local state-of-the-art auditorium. It was AMAZING and definitely money well spend on a bucket list item. This is one of the things that debt free life affords me to do, have the money to spend on things I want to do. I LOVE Broadway shows and sometimes, a trip to NYC is not always feasible. We are so fortunate to have a local place to go and see these Broadway touring shows!
Also in June, he had a home inspector to the house. Usually, a home inspector is only needed when you are buying a house but we’ve lived here for 14 years so I figured it was time to have someone come check for any big ticket items we might need to be replacing in the future. (This is because we cash-flow everything). Fortunately, there were no major problems however, he did notice that our HVAC drip pan was full – that led to the discovery that our main drip line was clogged and the secondary drip line was not working as efficiently. Since our HVAC unit is in the attic, we are fortunate to have caught this before the drip pan overflowed and ruined the insulation and ceiling. *GO CHECK YOUR HVAC DRIP PAN.
August – I traveled to Nashville, TN to speak at a conference. I’ll include the transcript – well, my speaking outline – in a later blog post but the point of my talk was based on the fact that you have an obligation to follow the path you are called, inspired or motivated to follow – even if you don’t know where that path will take you.
Not only did I gain so much motivation and inspiration from the conference BUT I received further validation that public speaking is the path I am to follow. Do you need a speaker for your event?
Let’s discuss details…
September- WHAT A MONTH! This might be 2-3 blog posts
*Hurricane Florence – short version: We evacuated, our house is ok. Longer version will be a post on November 9th.
*FIVE years debt free anniversary – November 27th post.
October – the most important thing about last month was that I traveled to NYC to see Elton John at Madison Square Garden. This was a full circle moment for me because it was Elton’s 60th Birthday concert in 2007 that started my “getting better with money” journey. This was my 39th and 40th concerts AND I went to see The Lion King on Broadway! More on that on November 20th.
Sometimes, it seems like seven months was SO long ago and other times it seems like it went by too fast! Seven months from today will be June, 2019. Have you ever taken the time to look back on the last seven months of your life and then look forward seven months?
Looking back – what do you wish you had started seven months ago?
For example, if you had started saving $100 a month, you’d have $700 right now. What difference would $700 make in your life today?
Looking forward – what do you want your life to look like seven months from now?
Do you want more money in savings? Start saving.
Want to pay down debt? Get a plan and start following it.
Want to take a vacation, get a new job, relocate, get married or make some other major life change? Make a plan and start following it.
November, December, January, February, March, April, May, June. That’s what the next seven months looks like. What do I anticipate?
Five more Elton John concerts – Atlanta (2), Raleigh, Columbia and Charlotte.
MORE money in savings – because we are following a plan
FURTHER reduction in mortgage debt – because we are following a plan
Celebrating 18 years of marriage
Whatever else comes along that we haven’t planned yet…
Here’s the thing – nothing changes unless you change. All these things that happened in my life over the last seven months were because I DID SOMETHING. I created and followed a plan of action and then followed through.
Look back, look ahead and follow through with an action plan. That’s how things happen.
That’s how you make changes.
