What do you want your life to look this one year from now?
Pretend it’s November 14, 2019, what’s happening in your life?
Seriously, take a minute or two to think about it – think of three things – the first three things that come to mind. What is happening in your life twelve months from now?
If everything went right, according to whatever plans you made and you weren’t worried about how something was going to happen, what does your life look like twelve months from now?
What are you doing NOW to make those things happen?
“All you need to do is figure it out and then get the rhythm of it and then it will be easier”
This was a statement I made today during a coaching call. We were discussing the budget and some of the strategies to get it together and working right for the client.
Once you get things figured out and working, you start gaining momentum.
Momentum is a force that once it gets going, is hard to stop.
If you want things to be different, you have to do different things.
A THREE STEP PLAN
Ready?
First, decide what you want to be working on for 2019. Because, by this time next year, 2019 will almost be over. Don’t worry about the process, about how its going to happen or that it’s too big, to unrealistic, etc. Just write down ONE thing you want to happen for you in 2019.
Got it? Ok, move on to the next step –
Set
You need a set of plans to follow. It’s doesn’t have to be all the steps, just some that you can do to get you moving – to be gaining momentum – towards that goal you decided on on the first step. Yes, you will have some failures, but generally speaking you need to set yourself up for success.
Go.
You need to start purring your plan into action. NOW.
There are 6 weeks left in 2018. You need this time to start working on your plan and gaining that momentum so you are ready to go on January 1st.
Haha, Melissa. Don’t you know the Holidays are happening over the next wsix weeks?
Don’t you know I don’t have time to do this?
Don’t you know that this is the worst time of the year to start something new?
Yes. Yes. and Yes.
But I also know that most people quit on their New Year’s resolutions less than one week into the New Year. But not you and not me.
We are going to be different because we are doing things differently.
By the time January 1st gets here, we will have so much momentum working towards our goal(s) that we will not get frustrated and quit.
That’s how you make the changes. You do not quit. You do not give up.
You let the momentum carry you.
So here’s your plan – ready?
10 minutes a day.
Starting NOW. Today. Set a timer for ten minutes. Grab pen and paper or open the notes section on your phone. GO through the steps above but add the answer to this question –
How will you feel if you make progress towards or accomplish this goal?
Let’s do some math, shall we?
6 weeks is 42 days.
10 minutes a day for 42 days is 420 minutes.
420 minutes is 7 hours.
SEVEN HOURS – that’s less than a full day of work.
I want you to spend seven hours over the next six weeks working on your 2019 goals and plans.
AND, doing the work to get a good system, a good rhythm, in place before January 1st gets here.
“The Holidays” is an excuse. If you want to accomplish something, there is no time for excuses.
It’s time to get to work –
Ready? Set. Go. = Momentum
